Not just a rerun!
Yes, life has been going on.
I'm not too sure where to start now - I think that's the problem with blogging procrastination: when you finally sit down to try to fit your life into a small white box, it isn't quite easy.
1. Class party + Yani's birthday party = insanity compacted into two days at the start of the month. I enjoyed myself, though it's a little late to recall all our hijinks. Rackets, whipped cream, bananas and pools were involved, and no, it's not as kinky as it sounds.
Caught up with Val a little - it's been a while, and I haven't managed to talk to her about life in general so far. Over the holidays, perhaps?
2. I have begun to derive satisfaction from a good run, although I must admit that the sitcom/drama situations of the track each morning tend to draw me there more often than not. Snippets of teacherly conversations that I may or may not have heard allow for great amusement throughout the day.
(P/S. When you mix Comedy and Drama together, the television calls it Dramedy, although if you turned it around you'd get Coma, which in itself, is dramatic and hilarious at the same time.)
3. As always, History and SS lectures have been fun, informative and very amusing. Some teachers (and the entire student cohort) have finally agreed that The Whale Rider is not a very good book (read: annoying overtly fantastical thing that tries too hard with two-dimensional characters that could only save itself the first time round). I think I may finally be getting the hang of sec three, and it scares me to admit this only after half the year has gone.
4. Prefect nominations were an interesting affair, considering Ms Lin and Mrs Hee's take on the matter. The process of nominating a classmate (as dictated by Ms Lin who we think made it up on the spot) went as such:
i. State your full name
ii. State your NRIC/Birth cert number
111. State the full name of the person you wish to nominate
iv. State your reason for nominating said person.
It was quite amusing, given that some girls had forgotten their BC numbers, but otherwise it was a pretty serious process. Meanwhile, Ms Lin gave us an insight on her one year in the prefectorial board, in which she managed to roster people into just the right places to nab latecomers, considering how she herself knew the best ways to sneak into the school (ahem). Mrs Hee didn't say anything, although she did have her disapproving-yet-amused look on her face.
5. Angela and I decided to nosy our way through the yearbooks one fateful day, and naturally we managed to catch a glimpse (or two, or three) of several teachers in all their adolescent glory.
The best part was how we had stumbled out of the library and down the stairs, dizzy and chuckling at the sheer surreality of the ordeal, only to come face to face with Ms Lin & Ms Chow, and later, Ms Tan and Mrs Fernandez.
It was all very strange, and containing our laughter was quite the monumental task that day.
6. I signed up and got into the Stanford Writing Programme respectively. All's been well, I think, although I'm still in the midst of struggling haplessly through the short story I'm supposed to write. If it's anything, I'm pretty glad it got me started on writing again.
7. CAP OHMYGOD CAP IS IN TWO WEEKS ONE WEEK NOW I THINK I GO FOR THE BRIEFING TOMORROW AND OH MY GOD CAN YOU TELL I'M EXCITED THIS IS ALL INSANE AND AMAZING AND OMG YAY
8. I need to reply my tagboard. It's been looking lonesome and sad lately.
